Former coach Gilbert back at rugby clubt Gooi

The former national coach of Dutch rugbyers, Gareth Gilbert, returns to the Dutch fields. The South African starts working at RC‘t Gooi, the club where he was also head coach from 2006 to 2009. Gilbert closed that period with the title.

After that, Gilbert, who was also active as a player for’t Gooi, was also technical director of Rugby Netherlands and coach of both the national men and women‘s teams.


the women, he brought the national VII – the name used in the so-called Rugby Sevens, the game variant that has been on the Olympic program since 2016 – to the world top and the men’s team was close to promotion to the Rugby Europe Championship a few times under Gilbert, after the Six Nations the highest European stage.

In the summer of 2019 he returned to Botswana to spend more time with his family. He‘s now signed a three-year contract at’t Gooi.
