Fortuna brings in experienced Spaniard transfer-free with nearly 180 La Liga duels

Fortuna Sittard has strengthened with 32-year-old Spaniard Ximo Navarro. The multi-deployable defender has been clueless since leaving Deportivo Alavés earlier this summer and can thus join Julio Velázquez‘s squad after the transfer window, who was at the helm of Alavés for eight more games last season.
Navarro has played for Alavés since 2018 and reached eighteen La Liga games last season. Throughout his career, he played nearly 180 duels in the highest Spanish league. In the past, the defender also played with Real Mallorca, Recreativo Huelva, FC Córdoba, UD Almería and Las Palmas, making Fortuna’
s adventure his first abroad. Navarro will sign in Sittard until the end of this season, with an option for another season.
Sjoerd Ars, technical manager at Fortuna, is happy to add Navarro to the roster. After Mickaël Tirpan‘s departure, we were still looking for a defensive reinforcement, preferably one that can handle multiple positions. We found it in Ximo’s person, he responds to the club site. In addition, we are adding an experienced force who knows what is being asked for in the playing style of our new trainer.
