Four women and child attacked with knife in Italy, suspect arrested

In the Italian city of Rimini, a man has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing four women and a 6-year-old boy with a knife. The suspect is a 26-year-old asylum seeker from Somalia.

The authorities do not assume a terrorist motive. The 6-year-old victim, who was cut in the neck, was seriously injured.

The knife attack was last night and started on a bus. According to Italian media, the suspect did not have a ticket and attacked two inspectors when they asked for his place-proof. The two women were injured, unclear how bad.

Then the man took off and outside he would have assaulted three random people with his knife. One of them was the 6-year-old boy, who stood in front of a supermarket with his mother. Later officers arrested the man on the street.

Under the Influence

The Somali may have been intoxicated during the incident. Nothing is known about a motif yet.

According to Italian media, the 6-year-old victim had surgery on an arterial hemorrhage last night. He would be out of danger by now, but doctors keep another blow, reports news site la Repubblica.
