The French government intervenes with the ever-rising energy prices for consumers and businesses such as restaurants. Paris will block gas price until April next year, Prime Minister Jean Castex reports.
In France, gas prices are going up 12.6% per today. Castex now says it wants to form a “shield” against the ongoing increases in prices for consumers and businesses.
Several governments in Europe are still looking at a cost compensation as the energy bills are rising like this.
The blockade on a price increase for gas is valid until April, as the French government expects stocks to be restored and tariffs could fall by that time.
In France, an increase in electricity prices will also be on the agenda in February next year, but the government wants to stop it to a maximum of 4% increase. Paris uses a tax cut for this purpose.
