French government closes Paris further after rise corona

The French Government has decided to lock up the capital, Paris, and some ten other cities because the number of corona infections is rising sharply. Bars must be closed by 10 p.m. on Monday at the latest, and meetings with more than 10 people in public are no longer permitted. Fitness clubs must be completely closed.

In the southern cities of Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, the measures go one step further: all cafรฉs and restaurants have to be closed. This also applies to Guadeloupe, the French archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. Restrictions on meetings had previously been imposed on Marseilles and some other cities. The hospitality sector, too, was only allowed to open to a limited extent.

The government is being forced to take the steps because more than 10 000 new coronavirus attacks have been reported almost every day in the last week. The figures contrast sharply with the numbers just after the end of the 55-day lockdown in May. In the following weeks, less than 1,000 new daily infections were recorded.

France is one of the worst affected European countries, with more than 31 000 coronadalities.
