The “monster of the Ardennes”, the French serial killer Michel Fourniret, died on Monday at the age of 79, according to the public prosecutor of Paris. Fourniret served two life prison sentences at the time of death for the murder of eight people.
Fourniret was in Fresnes Prison in Paris, but was admitted to a hospital in that city on April 28. He was in critical condition and had difficulty breathing. The prosecution has informed us that the death of the convicted murderer is under investigation.
The man was convicted in 2008 for the abduction, rape and murder of seven young women and girls in France and Belgium between 1987 and 2001. After the conviction, Fourniret was found guilty of five more murders and disappearances. In 2018, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
