The French serial killer Michel Fourniret (79) died. The man who was nicknamed the “Monster of the Ardennes “had been in a hospital since the end of April. The French justice did not want to disclose why he was recorded, but according to French media, he had difficulty breathing, among other things.
Fourniret and his former wife were sentenced to life imprisonment in 2008. He had been proven to have abducted, raped and murdered seven women and girls between 12 and 22 years old in France and Belgium between 1987 and 2001. His wife helped him find victims. In 2018, there was a conviction to life imprisonment due to another murder.
The two were arrested in Belgium in 2003, after a 13-year-old girl who was abducted by Fourniret managed to escape and called the police. Then Fourniret and his wife were extradited to France where they helped the police to recover the remains of three victims.
