Frenkie de Jong is decisive for FC Barcelona

Ronald Koeman, with his FC Barcelona, has dragged a spot in the semi-final of the Spanish Cup in front of the gates of hell. In the 88th minute the Catalan team was still 2-0 behind Granada. Eventually after extension was won: 5-3. Frenkie de Jong made the 4-3.

Trainer Koeman joined Lionel Messi and De Jong, or with his base number. FC Barcelona got several chances in the first half hour, but it didn‘t lead to goals. Defender and the French world champion Samuel Umtiti went on the back line childish wrong, benefiting Granada and especially striker Kenedy: 1-0 in the 33rd minute.

Immediately

after rest, the suffering became even greater for Koeman and co. Roberto Soldado was only allowed to go on goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Segen, after a long ball that misjudged Umtiti again: 2-0.

It is not that the Catalans did not get any chances. In fact, countless. Especially Trincao did not have his sights on sharp and first found keeper Aaron Escandell and then the bar on his way to a hit.

Also a

great overthrow

of Antoine Griezmann was taken out of the goal by closing post Escandell, who stopped just about everything. Also Ousmane Dembele had hit the pole hard in between.

However, there came the hit for Griezmann. A lepe assist by Messi at the distant second pole ended up with the Frenchman, who tricily shot the ball between the pole and the sleeping Escandell: 2-1 in the 88th minute. A minute later Messi soled past several players to shoot the ball on the inside pole. Unbelievable but true that this attempt didn’t go into it.

Idiotic closing phase and extension

Yet there came the no longer expected equalizer. Through Messi and Griezmann, ball ended on Jordi Alba‘s head: 2-2. Luis Suarez could have won the victory in the very last minute, but his attempt went beyond: prolonging.

Messi was almost the celebrated male there in minute 95, but again there was Escandell. But Granada couldn’t stop it anymore, Griezmann pricked the 2-3. But a minute later the champagne was already back in the fridge, because Sergino Dest got a penalty kick against after a (slight) shoulder push. Fede Vico shot him in: 3-3.

In the second extension there was Messi again, but again he found Escandell on his way. However, the rebound was for De Jong: 3-4. Alba ended all doubts in the 113th minute. Griezmann passed right on the running left-back, which was knee-hard and brilliant: 3-5.
