Frenkie de Jongs agent has arrived in Barcelona. Ali Dursun talks to FC Barcelonas club management about the future of the 25-year-old midfielder, reports Diario SPORT.
According to the Catalan sports newspaper, a decision must be made about De Jong in the coming hours or days. Barça has reached an agreement with Chelsea on a redemption price and the message for the Dutch international is clear: he has to leave or sign a new contract at a lower salary. However, De Jongs camp has an opposite opinion.
The ex-Ajacied already surrendered salary, which means that he still has about eighteen million euros in credit. Several media have already written that he does not intend to be driven away for the time being. De Jong still wants to stay at Camp Nou. Dursun has already spoken about this over the phone with the Barça summit in recent days, but the club now also wanted a physical meeting.
Incidentally, Dursun is also Martin Braithwaites advocate. The future of the Danish attacker will also be discussed. Braithwaite has no perspective at all and needs to free up space in the salary budget. Barça currently does not comply with La Ligas financial rules, so purchases cannot be subscribed.
A departure of players such as De Jong, Braithwaite and also Memphis Depay would significantly reduce the financial burden. It is reported that Chelsea wants to pay around eighty million euros for the game determiner. De Jong was scolded by some fans on Wednesday when he arrived at the training complex.
