Ganese fired as head of Russian anti-doping agency

head of the Russian anti-doping agency Rusada, was fired after being accused by the Olympic Committee of serious financial irregularities

Ganes has led Rusada since August 2017 and is known as an anti-doping fighter. The allegations of the Olympic Committee are, according to the Russian, unjustified and would undermine Rusada’s efforts to regain international trust. The dismissal would be politically motivated, according to Geese.

Russia is excluded from major tournaments until 2024 after the unmasking of a major state doping program. Nanny, who blamed the authorities for obstruction in cleaning up the sport in Russia, rightly called that punishment.

CCeit correspondent David-Jan Godfroid interviewed Yuri Nanny last year.
