For the Dutch-speaking Hertha BSC, the German Cup is over after just one round. Eintracht Braunschweig, who promoted to the second Bundesliga last season, beat the Berlin club in a spectacular cup match 5-4.
Hertha, with Karim Rekik in the base and three other Dutchmen on the bench, fought back twice from a backlog (from 2-0 to 2-2 and from 3-2 to 3-3). Even after the 5-3 of the Polish striker Martin Kobylanski, who was the big man for Braunschweig with a hat-trick, Hertha did not give up. Dodi Lukebakio made it 5-4 with his second of the evening, but that was all.
Javairo Dilrosun was allowed to substitute for Hertha fifteen minutes before time, Deyovaisio Zeefuik and Daishawn Redan stayed on the bench.
Assist for Boëtius
Jean-Paul Boëtius had more success with his 1. FSV Mainz 05. Mainz defeated TSV Havelse, a team of the fourth level, 5-1. After the surprising 1-0 by Havelse, Boëtius took care of the assist in the 1-1 by Jean-Philippe Mateta, who then made two more.
