German police roll up child porn network worldwide with help from the Netherlands

The German police have rolled up a large child porn network. It had 400,000 users around the world and has been active on the dark web for almost two years, the hidden part of the Internet. According to German media, it is one of the largest child porn networks ever discovered.

On the website Boystown there were mainly pictures of boys, also of very young children. โ€œThe website also had a chat function that allowed users to exchange ideas,โ€ says correspondent Wouter Zwart in Berlin. It is not clear whether Dutch casualties have also been made.

Germany has received assistance from several countries, including the Netherlands. Two detectives from the National Police Unit managed to locate the server where the sites were running and one of the administrators. โ€œBut since we are not allowed to cross the border, we have transferred the information to the Germans,โ€ says a spokesman.

Already more networks rolled up, children saved

Four German men have been arrested, three in Germany and one in Paraguay. Three of them managed the website. The other man had placed over 3500 pictures of child pornography on the site as a member.

The four Germans are stuck. Germany has asked Paraguay to extradite the man arrested there.

Justice in Germany is actively searching for child porn networks. This has led to suspects around the world over the past year, including people who abused their own children and shared images of them on websites. According to the German police, a large number of children were rescued from the hands of the perpetrators.
