Ghana hopes to unleash Jeremie Frimpong from the Junior Team and call for the national team. The Ghanaians hope for the same scenario as Tariq Lamptey, who chose Ghana over England and debuted with the national team this week.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Ghanaian Football Association is showing increasing interest in Frimpong, who is doing great at both the Junior and Bayer Leverkusen. Frimpong played in the base at Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and already scored twice in the first seven games. Frimpong made his debut with the Dutch Junior in September last year and has played four games in the Orange shirt so far.
Ghana hopes to use Lamptey as an example for Frimpong. The English-Ghanaian player debuted on Friday in the exhibition game with Brazil, which was lost 3-0. Lamptey has played with Brighton since 2020 and recently definitively elected Ghana for England. The Ghanaian Football Association has been chasing Frimpong for some time. The right-back already indicated in March this year that Ghana would like him to join the selection.
“What gives me the final push, I dont know. All I can say is that it is not an easy decision. My family releases me. He says: We support you regardless of your choice,” Frimpong told the Algemeen Dagblad last year.
