Gilissen: ‘The talks with Frank, players and staff were the deciding factor’

Technical director Tim Gilissen of Heracles Almelo explained the sudden departure of Frank Wormuth. According to him, there was not enough confidence that Heracles would bring the playoffs to a successful conclusion under his leadership.
Heracles‘ action appears to be an emergency grab to avoid degradation. Gilissen says there wasn’t enough energy and confidence to enter the playoffs with Wormuth. โ€œThe decisive reason was the conversations we had today with Frank himself, the staff and the players,โ€ says Gilissen at DecceIt.
โ€œWe felt that too many questions arose towards Wednesday. We had to break that. On that basis, we unfortunately had to make the decision. We look back on a great time with Frank. A good trainer, a beautiful person that we worked well with. Even after the winter break, when he indicated he was going to FC Groningen, we agreed to go full for it, to go out through the front door. You just felt it was going away.โ€
Heracles will play at Excelsior on Wednesday, Saturday is the return in Almelo. After that, the club has to survive another playoff round.
