Golden cock Kharchouch leads Excelsior to victory over Vitesse

Excelsior also won the second game of the Eredivisie season on Friday night. The team of coach Marinus Dijkhuizen was too strong on its own field for Vitesse, which is having a disastrous start.
With a temperature of about thirty degrees, Excelsior and Vitesse opened the football weekend at Woudestein. The Arnhemmers wanted to take advantage of the hard defeat against Feyenoord (2-5) and started vigorously. Domgjoni quickly hit the top of the bar, while goalkeeper Stijn van Gassel saved well on a Maximilian Wittek header. In the rebound, Domgjoni was also in charge of the closing post.
Vitesse thus got the chances, but with the first one the best option on the other hand, it was immediately hit. Reda Kharchouch used his body well in the penalty area after fifteen minutes, turned away and pulled the trigger: 1-0. After twenty minutes, his second chance was also hit. This time Azarkan sent him deep, after which Kharchouch spooned the ball very nicely over Jeroen Houwen.

As a result, Vitesse had to go to the chase and insisted heavily. Among other things, Van Gassel stood in the way of a goal from Tronstad. After 29 minutes, the Excelsior goalkeeper was knocked anyway. He had no chance of Nikolai Baden Frederiksen‘s deployment in the rebound.
That goal should have given Vitesse confidence, but in the second half Excelsior was hardly embarrassed. The game undulated a bit up and down, but great opportunities were left out. With Yassin Ayoub as substitute, the Kralingers threw the game into the final fifteen minutes before time. After good preparatory work by Kharchouch, Kenzo Goudmijn hit 3-1.
The evening became even more annoying for Vitesse because Tronstad received a red card in injury time after a heavy charge. Excelsior won’
t care. The team of Marinus Dijkhuizen already won against SC Cambuur last week and is therefore still clear.
