Golfer Johnson doesn’t succumb to pressure to win the grand prize

Dustin Johnson won the final tournament of the American Tour. The American took not only a shining trophy, but also over 12.5 million euros. That is the largest amount of money that can be earned annually by an individual athlete at an event.

“I’m not so much about the money as the prestige,” said the winner. “I’ve wanted to be champion for a very long time. I’m all about cups and wins.”

At the final tournament in Atlanta, the thirty strongest players of this season participated in the PGA Tour. Johnson, the number one player in the world, successfully maintained his lead in the fourth and final round.

The 36-year-old golfer started the tournament at -10.

Johnson was five strokes ahead of his compatriots Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas in the all-around final round.

After nine holes Johnson was still three strokes ahead and with two holes to play the margin was two strokes. Johnson did not succumb to the pressure and stayed three strokes ahead after a birdie on the last hole (-21 at -18).

With the top prize Johnson emphasizes once again to be in top form. Last year he had surgery on his left knee and then he barely played tournaments. Then the coronavirus pandemic also stopped the American tour.

After the resumption, Johnson was reborn and played his best golf ever. He scored two victories, came second twice and conquered the number 1 position on the world ranking list
