John Rahm has won the BMW Championship in Olympia Fields by beating Dustin Johnson in a play-off. With a final round of 64 strokes, the Spaniard ended up with a total of 276 (four strokes below the track average), just like the American.
On the first extra hole Rahm struck with a sensational birdieputt from a distance of 22 meters. “I had to laugh about it, because this was a putt where you don’t really believe it can succeed“, said the winner.
Johnson did stay ahead of Rahm in the standings for the FedEd Cup, which will be decided next week at the Tour Championship in Atlanta. There, the top thirty awaits a bonus pot filled with $70 million, of which $15 million is for the winner.
