Great tit strongly denies: ‘MPs are not actively counter-worked’

Minister Koolmees contradicts the fact that the Council of Ministers deliberately opposed critical MPs by withholding information. In the television programme Op1, the demissionary D66 Minister of Social Affairs and Employment responded to the published Ministerial Council minutes on the payment affair.

These minutes show that a number of ministers were critical, especially of coalition parliamentarians. โ€œThe suggestion is now as if MPs were deliberately opposed. That is not true,โ€ says Great Tit. โ€œIve been there. Thats just not true and thats why Im quite emotional about this.โ€

Innoctions about Lodders and Omtzigt

Great tit itself, according to those minutes, shows in the 2019 Council of Ministers his annoyance about the CDA MP Omtzigt and VVD-MP Lodders. They would have a โ€œjoint struggleโ€ against D66 Secretary of State Snel, a party member of Great Tit.

Great tit has also disturbed the behaviour of the MPs, but that had another reason. Continuing to ask for all kinds of information and also the names of civil servants would lead to greater problems for the Tax Administration, an important executive organisation. โ€œThose officials deserve protection too. Theyre not target.โ€

See here a part of the Great Tit performance in Op1:

The Minister believes that the coalition parties in the House of Representatives also have a joint responsibility. โ€œWe had to find a good solution for those affected parents as soon as possible.โ€ The fact that the MPs Omtzigt, Leijten and Lodders, among others, have committed themselves to this issue deserves a praise as far as Great Tit is concerned.

โ€œWere not of sugar.โ€

At Op1 at the table, Great Tit stressed that the cabinet did not want to prevent MPs from asking questions. He also says he is angry at the image that is now looming and wants to tell his side of the story before the House of Representatives debates it on Thursday.

โ€œ It is right for MPs to put the fire on our shins. Were not made of sugar either.โ€ Great tit believes that ministers should be able to share their annoyance among themselves in the Council of Ministers. That is why it is important that the minutes of these consultations remain secret.
