The Turkish club Antalyaspor appointed Fons Groenendijk and Michael Lindeman as assistant trainer to Nuri Sahin. The club announced Wednesday.
Groenendijk (57) was without a club after leaving Al-Wahda, where he was also an assistant. He has decided to say yes to Sahin. “Its gone really fast. I was approached on Sunday 3 October and it came by yesterday. For me, this is a wonderful challenge. It seems to be a very nice city and great location. I was tired of sitting at home and this comes as a call,” says Groenendijk to Leiden amateur football.
“I really want to start this job. In principle, its seven months, but maybe longer when it becomes a success. Saturday afternoon we play against Sivasspor. That team has nine points and the club Im going to work has eight out of eight. As you know, Turkeys football lives tremendously and I like to be part of a project. The club wants to take a new course and I would like to contribute to it,” says Groenendijk.
