FC Groningen will join forces with Radinio Balker after this season. The Almere City defender becomes the successor of Ko Itakura at The Pride of the North and comes across transfer-free at the end of the season.
That‘s what Football International reports Friday night. Groningen wanted to bring the 22-year-old Balker to the club this month, but Almere City did not want to cooperate. The club of trainer Ole Tobiasen is fighting for promotion to the Eredivisie and does not want to miss Balker. However, Balker and Groningen are now personally agreed: the defender leaves after this season.
Mark-Jan Fledderus is busy in the winter transfer period. Groningen has already secured the services of Mike in Wierik, who comes over from Derby County. “He is still in England and needs medical examination,” says Fledderus. “After that he has to train separately from the group, so in the best scenario we have him against Vitesse (on January 23, save.) for the first time.”
The technical director of Groningen is pleased with the arrival of Te Wierik. “At first it seemed that we could only rent it. That wasn’t very interesting for us. But now that we can capture it for several years, we are very happy about it.”
