Hackers are laying down huge American oil company

A major cyber attack is causing trouble in the United States. Hackers have taken down a huge oil company. Their computers and therefore also their machines and pipelines are no longer usable.

The company is extracting oil from the ground in the state of Texas. Through extremely long pipelines, the oil normally goes to other places in the country.

The oil company‘s been shut down by a group of criminal hackers. With special software, they locked the company’s computers. They want money first, before they release the computers again. How much money is not known.

Gasoline shortage?

Now that the pipes cannot be used, additional trucks are driving through the US. Yet they can never transport as much oil as they pass through the pipelines. As a result, the price of gasoline may become more expensive in the coming time. Also, there may be a shortage in some places.
