The presence of Sébastien Haller provided extra motivation for the players of Borussia Dortmund. This is what Marco Reus says, who himself opened the score in the Champions League game with FC Copenhagen (3-0).
Haller made the switch from Ajax to Dortmund this summer, but, as you know, he was soon diagnosed with testicular cancer. The Ivorian striker is currently undergoing chemotherapy. “He is doing very well,” says Technical Director Sebastian Kehl of Die Schwarzgelben, quoted by BILD. “He deliberately chose to come to the stadium today, he wanted to be there.”
His teammates were also quickly aware that Haller was sitting in the stands. “As we walked into the field, we saw him on the big screen. I got goosebumps, also because the fans were cheering a lot,” says Reus at Prime Video. “We look forward to him coming back soon, because it adds a lot of quality. He is a strong person and will give us a lot.”
