Sébastien Haller has left frustrated feelings from his time at West Ham United. Over a year and a half ago, The Hammers took him from Eintracht Frankfurt for 50 million euros. Haller just never knew how to live up to that price tag.
“Usually I dont look back at things with regret, but I feel frustrated, of course, because I left without finishing anything. That gives a bad feeling”, Haller looks back on his period in England in conversation with TalkSport. Haller felt the pressure of his big price tag at West Ham. “Of course, people look at you differently and expect even more than any other player. Theres nothing you can do about that price tag, its just something thats always around your neck.”
According to Haller, the high transfer fee isnt the only reason he couldnt convince at West Ham. “It was really frustrating to see that the matches passed without me making any goals. I also felt like I couldnt really find the perfect spot on the field or could not anticipate what my teammates were doing.”
Despite his disappointing time in London, Haller gives West Ham the very best. “I dont want to say that I think this team will do this or this, but I really hope they will make it to the Champions League,” he says. “That would be great for the club, the fans and the players. With the work theyve done, they deserve this.”
