Hamstra discusses Ajax players Bassey, Conceição, Brobbey and Antony

Calvin Bassey is fit, but not yet eligible to play. That‘s what technical manager Gerry Hamstra of Ajax said just before the game with Shakhtar Donetsk. Hamstra also discusses the other purchases.
Bassey’
s work permit has to be arranged and so the defender cannot play for Ajax yet. Hamstra says he is happy with Bassey. He didn‘t play in the biggest league, but he was in the Europa League final. From his construction via Leicester City to Rangers, he has made a rapid development and we think he can develop even further. It can be deployed immediately, but there are more. The selection is wide, so he too will have to fight, but this is someone who brings our specific qualities, says Hamstra at Ziggo Sport.
In addition to Bassey and Brian Brobbey, Ajax also captured Francisco Conceiçao. The Portuguese is also known as ‘
the Messi of Portugal‘. Hamstra puts on the brakes. We didn’t call that out. Antony and Neres helped each other together and we hope so with Francisco. He will be able to stand there immediately, but has Antony as a competitor. Hopefully, they can propel each other to greater heights, like with Neres.
And Brobbey is also inside. It always takes multiple parties. Sometimes things take a little longer, but the result is there and that is the most important thing. Brian has indicated that he only wants to go to one club and we were eager to get him back. It‘s a striker for now and for the future.
AntonyRond Antony is quiet at the moment, but Ajax fans still fear a departure from the Brazilian. We want to keep this group together because we have ambitions in the Netherlands and the Champions League. I’
ve always said call back in five minutes. Because sometimes you don‘t know, but we intend to keep this group together. That’s how we want to enter the competition, says Hamstra.
