Harry and Meghan make deal with Netflix

The British Prince Harry and his American wife Meghan Markle have signed a multi-year contract with Netflix. The intention is that the couple will make different types of programmes for the streaming service, from children’s programmes to fiction series.

In a statement, the princely couple says they want to focus on “content that informs, but also offers hope. Furthermore, as young parents, they find it important to create “inspirational family programs”.

Netflix says they are “incredibly proud” that Harry and Meghan have chosen the streaming service as “their creative home”. According to the company, the couple already has several productions running, including nature documentaries and an animated series about inspiring women.

Biggest deal

The amount of money Harry and Meghan have left in the agreement has not been disclosed. It is probably their biggest deal since the couple decided in early January to step back within the British royal family and become more financially independent. The couple now live in the American state of California.

It is not expected that Markle, who previously played in the hit series Suits, will also act in one of the couple’s Netflixproductions. She has regularly stated in the past that she has no new acting ambitions.
