Chelsea’s buying frenzy knows no bounds. Kai Havertz left the German football team’s training camp on Friday morning to complete his transfer to Chelsea. The transfer of the attacker Bayer Leverkusen involves more than 80 million euros.
The 21-year old German stayed on the bench in Stuttgart on Thursday for the entire game of Germany against Spain (1-1). That would be a precaution not to take any risk with his transfer to Chelsea.
Havertz has been the eye-catcher at Leverkusen for several years now. Last season he scored twelve goals in the Bundesliga for coach Peter Bosz’s team, seventeen the year before.
Already five purchases
Federal coach Joachim Löw gave Havertz permission on Friday to complete the changeover. The ‘Mannschaft’ will play again on Sunday, then in Basel against Switzerland.
Chelsea strengthened earlier with Hakim Ziyech (Ajax), Timo Werner (RB Leipzig), Ben Chilwell (Leicester City), Thiago Silva (PSG) and Malang Sarr (Nice).
