HBO comes with second spin-off Game of Thrones

HBO is working on a series based on Tales of Dunk and Egg, the book series of George R.R. Martin. Thats what Variety reports Thursday.

Ninety years before the world-famous saga A Song of Ice and Fire kicks off, Tales of Dunk and Egg follows the events of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg).

The news is striking because Martin once stated that he did not intend to bring Tales of Dunk and Egg to the screen.

HBO did not want to confirm the news on Thursday. The channel previously announced that there were two other spin-offs around Game of Thones in production. One of them, House of the Dragon, is about the Targaryen Dynasty and should be ready for broadcast by 2022. Another prequel, in which Naomi Watts would play the leading role, was eventually deleted.

Tales of Dunk and Egg consists of three parts: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight.
