For World Champion Sébastien Ogier, preparation for the World Rally with seasonal opener the Monte Carlo Rally started badly: during a test drive he destroyed his car, and driver Julien Ingrassia had to go to the hospital for control.
Ogier was on the road with his Toyota Yaris WRC to test in Saint-André-de-Rosans in France, near the Monte Carlo trail.
According to eyewitnesses, Ogier blocked his four wheels when cutting a bend, after which his Toyota went off the track heavily.
Ogier and corijder Ingrassia were able to free himself from the wreck. A spokesman for the Toyota team did report that Ingrassia was later transferred to the hospital as a precaution, for a check-up.
It is unclear whether Ogier will be able to resume his test program before the start of the explorations for Monte Carlo, early next week.
