Hostage-taking in France: kidnapper kills his hostage before committing suicide

The author of the hostage-taking, which began early Thursday in the evening at a company in Domont, about 20 kilometres from Paris, killed his hostage before killing himself, the media report.

The kidnapper, manager of the company, and his wife whom he was taking hostage, were found dead by the elements of the National Gendarmerie, the media add.

Before entering into the building, the hostage taker had shot and wounded two employees of his company.

Several people were inside the premises before the start of the events.

The negotiators of the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN) were on hand to get in touch with the kidnapper, who had a family litigation with his wife, co-manager of the company, according to the press.
