Hundreds of responders seeking german girl in czech forest

Hundreds of police officers, firefighters and other emergency workers are looking for an eight-year-old girl from Berlin in a forest along the German-Czech border. The child has been missing since Sunday.

The parents of the girl family took a walk with their children that day through the Bohemian Forest, which is adjacent to the Bavarian Forest. The parents lost sight of their daughter and son and their nephew when they went to play in the woods. Rescuers found the six-year-old son and nine-year-old nephew Sunday night before dark. The girl stayed without a trace.

Extensive and dense forest

The police in Bavaria reports that more than 800 emergency workers from Germany and the Czech Republic are participating in the search. Detective dogs and a police helicopter have also been deployed, but so far in vain. The search will continue on Tuesday.

The police dont assume a crime, but think the girl lost her way. The forest area is vast and densely overgrown, which complicates the search. What also worries is that the temperature is around freezing at night.
