‘I hope we win the Europa League someday: we follow the example of Ajax’

Club Brugge is on course for its fourth national title in six Jupiler Pro League seasons, but hopes for more. Blue-Zwart now hopes to harvest in Europe and mirrors Ajax.

Philippe Clement‘s team finished third in a Champions League pool with Borussia Dortmund, SS Lazio and Zenit Saint Petersburg before the winter stop, ensuring that the Europa League’s knockout phase was knocked out. โ€œI hope we will win one dayโ€, captain Hans Vanaken shows himself ambitious, in conversation with La Derniรจre Heure. โ€œWe follow the example of Ajax, which reached the Europa League finals and the Champions League semi-finals.โ€
Club Brugge takes on Dinamo Kiev on 18 and 25 February and wants to show that it has grown since its disastrous Champions League campaign in the 2016/2017 season, when a pool with Leicester City, FC Porto and FC Copenhagen did not take a single point. โ€œOur first campaign in the Champions League ended with a 0 on 18โ€, Vanaken also reiterates. โ€œSince then, we have only grown up. Our current results came from that experience. We can now go one step further.โ€
