‘I would find it annoying if Erik ten Hag had to clear the field quickly’

Willem van Hanegem hopes wholeheartedly that Erik ten Hag will succeed in getting Manchester United on track. Points after the first two Premier League games: zero. Van Hanegem sees it with sadness.
In the first game, Brighton & Hove Albion was too strong and was lost to Brentford on Saturday. The atmosphere at Old Trafford is dramatic. โ€œManchester United is at the bottom of the Premier League and I kind of got the idea that that situation makes people happy. I don‘t belong to that category. I would find it annoying if Erik ten Hag had to clear the field quickly. But when Frank de Boer died at Inter and later at record speed at Crystal Palace and Mark van Bommel at VFL Wolfsburg, you also saw triumphant faces here and there’, says Van Hanegem in his weekly column for the Algemeen Dagblad.
โ€œI hope Ten Hag gets the time. That does not alter the fact that his start in the sporting field is dramatic. Brighton and Brentford, that seemed to offer perspective. With zero points now against Liverpool, while the club is already on fire; it‘s not good,โ€ continues Van Hanegem.
De Kromme finds it strange that many players Ten Hag once worked with are linked to Manchester United. โ€œI wouldn’
t do it and certainly not at Manchester United. Lisandro Martรญnez was already burned down and they charge the trainer who worked with him extra for that.
