Adnan Januzaj is critical of Louis van Gaal. Under the Amsterdammer, the Belgian was passed by Manchester United and even had to leave. If Januzaj had known Van Gaal was coming, he would have left.
Januzaj experienced several trainers at Man United. Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes believed in him. But then it became different. “But then others came and wanted more experience in the team,” says Januzaj to ESPN. “I was young and as a young boy, you have to shut up and just do what youre asked to do. I didnt have the right trainer to push me.”
“When Van Gaal came, I only played one of the six games. So that was difficult, and I was wondering, what am I doing here? Under Moyes, I got competitions to show myself. The most difficult thing about Man United was that I didnt get any competitions.”
“If I could have left before he arrived, I would have done so”, Januzaj responds to Van Gaals appointment. “But United wanted me to sign a new contract and I thought Id stay there for years. I knew these trainers didnt believe in me. I would have gone somewhere else. I just wanted to leave. Not on a rental basis, but I wanted to be sold. It was a difficult situation. Ill never make that mistake again.”
Januzaj (26) is working on his fourth season in the service of Real Sociedad.
