Inconspicuous radar car new weapon in battle against hard drivers

The police are going to deploy dozens of inconspicuous radar cars across the country to tackle hard-drivers. A trial with them has been successful, says Egbert-Jan van Hasselt of the National Police in De CCeit.

In two years’ time, fifty to one hundred inconspicuous police cars will be driving around with speed cameras in them. These can measure the speed of traffic in both directions of travel.

From offenders, a photo of the license plate will be taken. They will generally not be arrested, but will be fined.

According to Van Hasselt, who will soon be retiring as Police Infrastructure Project Manager, it is time for a new offensive against hard drivers. “There are still far too many deaths from speed devils and other traffic shovels.”
