Initially outstanding Lamprou pushes PEC even deeper into the concerns with blunder

Dark clouds gather above Zwolle after Saturday evening. Eredivisie gate closer PEC Zwolle lost against number for last Fortuna Sittard the match it was not actually allowed to lose: Nigel Lonwijk took advantage of a blunder from Kostas Lamprou in the final phase, which brought the guests three crucial points to Limburg and also to place sixteen rose.
The start of the game promised a lot of good. Mees de Wit shot in the side net on behalf of PEC and Lamprou kept the home team going at odds for Mats Seuntjens and Zian Flemming. In the injury time of the first half, it became hectic again for both purposes. Seuntjens stumbled upon Lamprou again and colleague Yanick van Osch stayed on his feet with difficulty in an offensive by PEC.
In the second half, both clubs held each other in the pliers, but after more than an hour of play, the relegation cracker was still broken open. The Lamprou, still outstanding for rest, came out of his goal too late to catch a high ball and Lonwijk shunked the leather over the abandoned goal line: 0-1. George Cox immediately missed a chance at a second goal, PEC was able to start his closing offensive.
Fortuna hardly came out of its own penalty area, but didn‘t let PEC seriously close to the equalizer either for a moment. For Dick Schreuder’s team, the situation is becoming more worrying by the week: PEC is still at six points, while the season is almost halfway. Sparta is the new number for last and is five points ahead of PEC. Fortuna climbs to place sixteen, with one point ahead of Sparta and six on the number last.
