Irritations at John van den Brom after defeat in snow: We are not amateurs, are we

Trainer John van den Brom lost Genk for the second week in a row with KRC.

Last week was middle-moter Kortrijk with 2-1 too strong, this time a visit to demotion candidate Excelsior Mouscron did not yield any points. The home team, who played a large part of the battle with a man more, won 2-0.

Van den Brom made his debut at the end of November with a 4-1 victory over Mouscron on the bench at Genk and won the two subsequent duels. Although his team is still second, the draft is in it.

After Fabrice Olinga had put Mouscron in the 28th minute ahead, Genk had to continue with ten men soon after Carlos Cuesta had left the field with red. Serge Tabekou doubled the head start of the home team 20 minutes before time.

Thanks to the victory, Mouscron took the last place in the Pro League to Waasland-Beveren. Genk has 4 points behind the leader Club Brugge, which plays an away game against Beerschot on Sunday.

Van den Brom expressed his displeasure at the fact that the duel had to be played despite the snowfall. Genk suffered the second defeat in Mouscron (2-0).

โ€œ You prepare yourself as a top club for a difficult away game and then you get these circumstances. Then you can throw the preparations into the trash. We used to say, throw the ball in the middle and see who comes out best. In advance, it was already a lotteryโ€, Van den Brom faded at the press conference.

โ€œ We should not listen to people who decide that we play because the ball rolls. It rolls everywhere, because a ball is round. It‘s annoying that we lost and then you get annoyed faster, but I would have said the same thing in a win.โ€

The duel was played on a snow-covered field. โ€œThere was no field heating here and everything has not been done to clean the field. Come on, we’re not amateurs,โ€ says the former trainer of AZ and FC Utrecht. โ€œI think that might be much worse than defeat. This can‘t be done, right? Why wasn’t it postponed until Sunday? We have plenty of space in the calendar.โ€

Last weekend Genk already lost the away game against Kortrijk. As a result of the defeats, the front runner Club Brugge, which hits Sunday Beerschot, can increase the lead to 7 points.
