Former model and businesswoman Ivana Trump has died at the age of 73. This is reported by her former husband, former US President Trump.
“I am sad to have to report to everyone who loved her, and there are many, that Ivana Trump died at her home in New York,” writes the former president on the social medium Truth Social he founded. “She was a beautiful and fantastic woman who lived an inspiring life.”
Ivana was a professional skier in Czechoslovakia and was therefore able to move outside the Eastern Bloc, where she married an Austrian skier, from whom she soon divorced again. Donald Trump married her in 1977, a year after they met at a modeling meeting in New York.
They soon collaborated on several major real estate projects. In the years that followed, they had three children: Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump.
The New York duo‘s fight divorce in 1992 received a lot of attention in American media. The New York Times reported that Ivana Trump ended up getting $14 million and multiple homes from her ex-husband, provided she wouldn’t talk to anyone about the details of the divorce. Donald Trump had been having an affair with Marla Maples since the late 1980s, whom he married in 1993.
Ivana also married two more times. Her fourth husband, Italian actor Rossano Rubicondi, died of skin cancer in October last year. He was 49 years old.
“She Embraced America”
“Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced America. She taught her children to show perseverance and toughness but also compassion,” Ivana‘s family told American channel ABC News.
After her divorce from Trump, Ivana founded her own fashion brand and wrote several books. She continued to live in New York but, like her former husband, spent a lot of time in Florida.
Both former President Trump and Ivana’s family have not disclosed what she died of.
