Jermaine Wattimena did not succeed in the eighth finals of the Grand Slam of Darts on Wednesday. The 32-year-old Dutchman lost in his last group duel with 5-4 to the 33-year-old Australian Damon Heta, the number 74 in the world.
Wattimena could beat himself in the head afterwards. The Machine Gun, the number 25 on the Order of Merit, missed three contest arrows in the decisive leg.
Wattimena defeated Durrant in his first game, but then lost to Wade. Heta achieved the same results in reverse order and so both gentlemen fought for the second place behind Wade in the last group duel.
Michael van Gerwen, after two won duels in Group A, is already sure of a spot among the best sixteen. Dirk van Duijvenbode has to win Ian White himself in Group E and is also dependent on the result of his competitor Peter Wright. The winner of Group E plays against Heta.
