Jérôme Boateng will not be able to compete in the final of the World Cup for Club Teams on Thursday.
The ex-girlfriend of Bayern Munichs defender, Kasia Lenhardt, was found dead in her home in Berlin. The couples relationship was on the cliffs a week ago. Boateng has now returned to Germany.
Also midfielders Leon Goretzka and Javier Martínez are missing in the final battle against the Mexican club Tigres UANL. They didnt travel to Qatar because they tested positive for the coronavirus.
“ We have prepared for Tigres just as intensively as we did for any other race,” says trainer Hansi Flick. “I saw Tigres in the semifinals and was very impressed by how they played. They play football with high intensity and have a lot of quality on the wings. It will be difficult for us.”
Tigres defeated the Brazilian club Palmeiras, winner of the Copa Libertadores, with 1-0, and Bayern was too strong for the Egyptian club Al Ahly by 2-0.
