The rehabilitation of Virgil van Dijk is still going well. Trainer Jürgen Klopp from Liverpool even calls it “very promising”.
The defender of Liverpool and Orange is currently working in Dubai to recover from a severe knee injury, sustained in October during the Merseyside derby against townmate Everton.
“ I spoke to Virgil on the phone, he sounded very cheerful. It all looks promising”, says Klopp, who has no answer to the question whether Van Dijk can still take action this season.
“ I dont know whats possible and whats not possible, Im not the right person to judge that. He still has a lot of steps to take, thats obvious. Ive had such an injury myself, so I know what it is. But if you see where he is now and how far he is in the rehabilitation process, thats promising.”
Federal coach Frank de Boer also closely monitors the recovery of his captain. De Boer hopes that Van Dijk will be available at the European Championships next summer.
