AC Milan has lost valuable points in the battle for the Italian title on Saturday. The leader went down surprisingly with Spezia, who started the duel as number 16 in Serie A. It was more than a year since AC Milan had lost an away match for the competition.
Milan started the duel slack and owed it to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for not looking at a backlog early. He saved on a bet from Riccardo Saponara. A headball by Alessio Romagnoli was the only Milanese danger to peace, the ball just disappeared past the target.
In the 56th minute it was still a hit for Spezia. Giulio Maggiore got the ball a bit luckily through defender Romagnoli and hit the target at close range. Milan failed to reach striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In the 67th minute it even became 2-0: Nahuel Estévez pushed the ball out of a free kick to Simone Bastoni who shot hard.
Milan remained at 49 points because of the defeat. Stadmate Internazionale (47 points) can take over the leading position on Sunday when winning at Lazio.
Juventus with De Ligt loses sight of title
The tenth title in a row is increasingly out of the picture for Juventus. The defender lost at Napoli (1-0) and now has 42 points, 7 less than AC Milan.
In his 400th duel in Serie A, Giorgio Chiellini introduced the 1-0 for Napoli. Juventuss defender hit Amir Rrahmani in an air duel with his hand in the face. The VAR had seen it better than the referee, who, after consultation, pointed to the penalty point. Lorenzo Badge shot from 11 meters.
Immediately after rest, Cristiano Ronaldo did not succeed in passing goalkeeper Alex Meret up close. The top scorer of Serie A with 16 goals was more close, while Álvara Morata and Matthijs de Ligcht, who came up in the final phase, could not score.
Juventus reached the final of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the team of coach Andrea Pirlo will visit Porto for the Champions League.
