Idrissa Touré has not been featured much at Vitesse this season, but it turned out to be gold for the Arnhemmers on Saturday night. The German Juventus mercenary saved Vitesse in the extra time for expensive points loss against PEC Zwolle and kept the number four of the Eredivisie on track for European football: Touré appears with a smile from ear to ear in front of the ESPN camera.
Earlier in the season he had taken a less beautiful lead role against the same PEC. At the beginning of December, Vitesse had the lead position for grabbing in Zwolle, but went down after a red card for Touré. “My first red card against Zwolle and my first goal against Zwolle… “, he summarizes. “I felt a little guilty then. But as a footballer, after two or three days, you have to shake something off and look forward. And now it was time for rematch!”
In minute 92 Touré showed up in the sixteen meters and promoted a first move of Oussama Tannane to a powerful headball. “Tannane has a good move, I knew that ball would come to speed,” he says while reviewing the images. “It was an easy thing, with such a move: if you hit the ball at the right time, the goalkeeper never has a chance.”
For the time being, it is the highlight of his Eredivisie era. After this season, he basically returns to the Juventus promises. “I played there in the second team, but sometimes we trained together with the first. But it‘s still Juventus, you know? Only superstars, it was a great opportunity to train and learn there.” The biggest superstar, however, runs around in Arnhem, he winks. “Cristiano Ronaldo or Enzo Cornelisse? Enzo Cornelisse of course! Enzo, my man, haha!”
