Hackers who hacked the CD Projekt servers, as threatened, auctioned off the source codes of Cyberpunk 2077, Gwent, the unreleased version of The Witcher 3 and other assets and internal documents. On the “dark” forums Exploit there was an offer with a starting price of one million dollars. Bidding, however, did not last long.
According to the resource KLEI, the owners of illegal mining received some satisfactory offer. Earlier it was announced that it is possible to redeem the lot without bidding for $7 million.
Whether this price was received is unknown. The company CD Projekt stated that it will not enter into bidding with crackers and pay a ransom for the return of its data.
Those, in turn, promised that they will not re-sell or otherwise distribute the stolen assets. It remains unknown who exactly now “owns” a solid part intellectual property CD Projekt and how it will affect the company in the future.
So far, in particular, it is not known exactly whether the personal data of employees became prey to hackers.
