Ronald Koeman has won next to his first prize as trainer of FC Barcelona. The Catalans went down on Sunday evening in the final of the Spanish Supercup with 3-2 against Athletic Bilbao. Antoine Griezmann took care of both hits for Barça.
A few minutes before rest, Griezmann entered his first goal of the evening, but a minute later it was already equal by a hit by Óscar de Marcos. Fifteen minutes before the final signal, Griezmann signed for his second hit. Koeman celebrated that hit on the side with clenched fist and a firm scream.
The former football coach of the Dutch team had his first prize for grabbing, but just before the final signal it still became 2-2. Asier Villalibre was the goalscorer.
Red Messi
In the extension Athletic struck. Iñaki Williams shot the ball in the intersection. Barcelona did not overcome that setback and lost a frustrated Lionel Messi in red towards the end after slapping an opponent. With his right fist, he made a quick and hard punch on his opponents head when he wanted to connect to the sixteen meter area after a play pass, walking in front of his feet.
Messi has never received a red card as a player of FC Barcelona. As an international of Argentina, he was already sent off the field twice.
For a while there was still a fright about Frenkie de Jong who came with his head against that of Dani García. He could play.
