Koeman positive despite defeat: ‘Laporta trust is very important’

Ronald Koeman is obviously suffering from the 2-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid, but FC Barcelona trainer is happy with Joan Laportas confidence. The Dutchman again asks time to build up the Catalan team.
“Laporta
s trust is important,” Koeman puts off shore. “I mentioned before that clarity is important. We called last night and this morning we talked about the team issues, the club issues and my issues. I asked the club to clarify my position. Thats important to players too.” How long his job has been safe now, hes afraid to say. “We are Barcelona and ultimately its always about results.”
According to Koeman, the conversation with Laporta was enlightening. “It was important that it became clear what path they want to go, with me or without me as a coach. You can
t do your job well if thats not clear.” The Dutchman now wants to look ahead and is optimistic. “We took no risk here with Jordi Alba, Ansu Fati is getting stronger physically and Ousmane Dembélé and Sergio Agüero will return soon. They have a lot of quality and give us options in the front.”
Koeman stresses once again that time is the most important thing in Camp Nou. “There are solutions in stock, just not overnight, and we need to give younger players time.” Barça took part in Madrid with young people Gavi and Nico González.
