FC Barcelona has been on fire continuously for months, but for Deputy Trainer Alfred Schreuder there was no dirt on the air on Sunday. His compatriots Memphis Depay and Luuk de Jong helped Barça a comfortable margin against Levante early on and Ansu Fati returned from a severe injury recorded the 3-0 final score.
Barcelona‘s new number ten had played its last match on November 7, 2020 and was allowed to make his return on Sunday. The suspended Ronald Koeman announced in advance that Fati would play a maximum of fifteen minutes: replacement Schreuder dropped him in ten minutes before time and saw the youngster score instantly. “It wasn’t even an opportunity, but he created it out of nowhere,” Schreuder said afterwards at the press conference. “That‘s individual quality.”
Barcelona is economical on Fati. “He was able to play a maximum of fifteen minutes: this is the first step for him to get a hundred percent fit again. We need to be patient with him,” Schreuder assures. “But in the end, we’re overjoyed that he‘s available again. You can see that he can make a difference and that’s what we need.”
