Dirk Kuyt is convinced that Hakim Ziyech and Donny van de Beek will succeed in England. The duo both experienced a disappointing first period at their new club in a different way. Kuyt argues, however, that the ex-Ajacids should be patient.
โThey just performed fantastic in the Champions League, have shown that they can compete with the absolute top of the world,โ says Kuyt at Ziggo Sport about Ziyech and Van de Beek. โThen you come to Chelsea of United and then you want to go through that. That just needs a little time. If you look at the qualities of those players, I am convinced that if they can keep the patience, they will come there and have a very nice period there.โ
According to Kuyt, many people also underestimate how big the leap from the Eredivisie to the Premier League is. โI experienced that as a player myself. I still remember playing there (at Liverpool, red) four or five months and I just lost six kilos. After that, another fifteen kilograms were gained, but that was all muscle mass. That does a lot to you.โ
