The title aspirations of AS Roma have suffered a big dent on Friday night. Stadsman SS Lazio, who wont compete for the prizes this season, played a sensitive blow in the eternal derby: 3-0.
Where the derby between the two Roman teams is normally played in a swirling Olimpico, the setting was now particularly desolate and quiet. Lazio liked that much better than Roma, because after fourteen minutes they were already able to celebrate a head start. Who other than Ciro Immobile signed the 1-0: he benefited from blunder in the defence of Roma.
Not ten minutes later, the blues doubled the margin. Luis Alberto, the Spanish stylist of Lazio, made 2-0 of it and he was also the one who threw the duel after rest in the castle. He placed the ball in minute 67 from the edge of the penalty area in the far corner and thus the weak resistance of Roma was finally broken.
The defeat of the Giallorossi in the city derby comes at a particularly bad time. With a victory, they could have approached Milan at three points, but now teams like Atalanta, Napoli and Juventus get the chance to get over Roma in the rankings. Lazio is the new number seven.
