Despite Cody Gakpo‘s cancellation, Leeds United is not giving up a transfer from the outside player yet. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano assures Premier League side will return to PSV for Gakpo in winter.
Gakpo seemed to leave for Leeds at the absolute end of the transfer window, but the attacker ended up putting a line through a transfer himself. Leeds, however, won’t settle for a ‘no’. If it‘s up to the English club, Gakpo still makes the switch in the winter.
The Dutch international is even the number one transfer target for Leeds. However, Romano predicts that it will not be easy for The Peacocks, who will face competition from other interested parties.
For Gakpo, the World Cup also played a role in his choice to stay with PSV. National coach Louis van Gaal pointed out to him that a transfer is not ideal, a few weeks before the global final tournament. However, the next transfer window is only after the World Cup.
