Wall of Sound
The music producer got a big name because of his development of the Wall of Sound: a sound recording technique that produces songs with a new orchestral sound, in which musical instruments are difficult to distinguish between them.
Spector produced great hits such as John Lennons Imagine. He has worked since the 1960s with, among others, The Beatles, Ike and Tina Turner, The Ramones and Leonard Cohen. Between 1961 and 1965, the American produced twenty top 40 hits. Also great artists such as the Beach Boys and Bruce Springsteen, who did not work with him, were influenced by his style.
Spectors first hit was To Know Him Is To Love Him by The Teddy Bears:
Spector, who was struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, withdrew from music during the 1980s and 90s. On 3 February 2003, he was arrested after finding Lana Clarksons body in his home.
He met the actress that night at a club in Hollywood. They went to Spectors house together, which she didnt survive. The music producer said that she herself wanted to “kiss” his rifle, but during the trial it came out that he had previously threatened four women with a gun. In 2009, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
